Hello!

I can’t really say where the seed of wanting to make things started, but I’ve always been interested in hands-on projects. I studied architecture at Cal Poly, SLO and was pretty quickly swept off my feet by the wood and metal shop there, getting to try my hand at some new detail-oriented skills. I graduated and worked in architecture for a few years, pursuing my license and then dove into the building and fabrication industries. I now find myself building custom commercial projects all around the bay area, including bars, restaurants, and cafe’s. One of the most rewarding things about this kind of work is being able to go back and see how the things I build get used, how successful they are over time, and how they inspire parts of the next project.

I continue to walk the line between the design world and fabrication world; it makes sense to me that they should be addressed together, the limits and possibilities of each should inform the other, and the only way to see if something works well is to look at it a few different ways and ultimately give it a go. And then adjust as necessary - the iterative process is the most rewarding.

My favorite projects to work on so far have been Fireclay Tile (through Sweitzer Inc.) and the Pot Rack - they bookend the spectrum of complex and detailed display cabinetry to beautiful simplicity in the work I do…the answer to this question changes often though.

Thanks for being interested enough to check out the “About” page here. I’m excited to share the things I’ve built as the collection continues to grow.
